A short goodbye

I remember being young and in love with a girl.  I remember going to her house and meeting her parents.  But most of all I remember sitting with her in the families basement listening to George Carlin.

That summer I went from being a dumb kid who just wanted to grab this cute girl and pretend I was a man, to taking my first steps into the reality of what would be my life.

My eyes opened up that summer to so many things.  It wasn’t just George I met people and saw things that changed my life.  But I wouldn’t be who I am today if we didn’t spend those long summer nights in the basement.

You made me realize there was more out there than just the things I was interacting with and a little perspective on bullshit.  I’ll miss you George Carlin, sleep well.
