Obama Plan-always have a way out

In sharp contrast to the general lack of direction for the GOP Obama has a plan. By way of a contract with America we have it to, in plain english, in print, on his website Bring Our Troops Home is the plan and it breaks down like this:

Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda.

Aside from troops directly responsible for protecting the embassy and one can assume it's mission, there will be no troops in Iraq unless al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq after the withdrawl.

Within 16 months after taking office all "combat brigades" will be "out if Iraq". This is an 'if you read the transcripts' moment waiting to happen.

Brigade is a big word and it can mean a lot of things. Between 1,500 and 4,000 people make up a brigade. For the marines this is a pretty clear entity, but for the army it has little significance in the field.

This is a technical backdoor for Obama.
