If you’re like me you’ve spent the last few nights staying up late watching everything you can find with or about George Carlin on the web. Brings up a lot of memories for me, and really it’s just put everything into perspective.
It’s an odd condition of humanity that sometimes we forget the people who made the biggest impact on us until they die. My love for George is bigger than I can say so I mean no disrespect when I say he picked a pretty good time to go. His perspective is a big help at least to me now and I’m soaking it all in again.

Sen. John McCain on Tuesday told voters that energy efficiency "should begin at home" and for once we’ve got a politician actually offering a plan.
"Every year the federal government buys upwards of 60,000 cars and other vehicles, not including military or law-enforcement vehicles," McCain said.
"From now on, we're going to make those civilian vehicles flex-fuel capable, plug-in hybrid or cars fueled by clean natural gas. If our great goal is to move American transportation toward lower carbon emissions, then it should start with the federal fleet."
For once the focus is being directed at the the federal government and not us. I bike to work as much as I can. I use flourecent bulbs where I can stand them and everyone I know is trying. Focus on the Family founder James Dobson accuses Sen. Barack Obama of deliberately distorting the Bible and taking a "fruitcake interpretation" of the U.S. Constitution.
Obama dared to suggest that religion might not be part of what makes a good government.
"Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy?" Obama asks in the speech. "Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount?” he even had the audacity to further compound his blasphemy with a suggestion some people might actually want to read the damn thing before they stick it in his face.
"I think he's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own world view, his own confused theology," Dobson said, later adding that Obama is "dragging biblical understanding through the gutter."

Charlie Black has brought a lot of heat down on McCain’s presidential bid. His comments about about the Bhutto assassination and the possibility of an attack on US soil helping the McCain campaign. But perhaps he’s just being honest.
The New Yorker magazine reported in Feburary 2004 that Black was considering setting up an office in Baghdad. "The problem in Iraq so far is it's slow, and very confusing for people to figure out how to do business there ... One week you go to Baghdad, and they say the decisions are being made at the Pentagon. Then you go to the Pentagon, and they say the decisions are being made in Baghdad. Only Halliburton is making money now!," he told New Yorker. "Is there too much cronyism? I just wish I could find the cronies," Black said.
This coming from a man considered as one of America's leading Republican political strategists. Perhaps his strategy is honesty today? Crazy? keep two things in mind before you drop this orange ball.
Rupert Murdoch the man who has probably spread more lies and dis-information than anyone said in an interview in May 2008 during the "All Things Digital" conference, "McCain is a friend of mine. He's a patriot. But he's unpredictable. Doesn't seem to know much about the economy. He has been in Congress a long time, and you have to make a lot of compromises. So what's he really stand for?... I think he has a lot of problems."
That’s a pretty telling statement from a guy who’s compromised our media more than anyone else in history. Murdoch goes farther and admits he was instrumental in the New York Post’s endorsement of Obama.
Equally as telling is the seeming about face of the Obama campaign after he secured the nomination. From being a beacon of hope and integrity to a liar. There is no lack of quotes and video in which Obama steadfastly states he will run a fair race and use the public finance system. But big money talks. He’s just another rich son-of-a-bitch who wants to win at all costs. Who will end up paying the costs.
I’m not a McCain supporter but I do appreciate some hard honesty and maybe Charlie Black was just calling it like he sees it. I’m sick of the lies and if we can’t have an honest conversation about the shit we are in what’s the point.
